Game Recap: Blues @ Ducks (Game 2)

The Blues continued their winning streak after a 4-1 win over the Ducks.

During the first period, they looked lost, they couldn't handle the puck a majority of the time, and the Ducks had their number. They didn't play their game. However, with how they've played in game two's, it's not surprising. They were still leaving Husso out to dry, which caused them to drop first period 1-0. Jakob Silfverberg scored the goal on a Ducks powerplay. Despite all that, there was eventually a momentum shift towards the end of the period.

Torey Krug and Justin Faulk continue stellar play. They were assisting Brayden Schenn on a game-tying goal. It was Schenn's fifth goal the season. Krug acquired his fourth assist, while Faulk got his first. Later in the period, Sammy Blais got his first of the year off a great wrist shot. The goal was assisted by Thomas (5) and Hoffman (3). The team overall looked significantly better in the second. Ending the period up 2-1.

Then in the third period, the game opened up. The Blues scored two goals in 70 seconds. Schenn got his second of the game and sixth of the year. Schenn's goal second goal was assisted by Perron (5) and O'Reilly (6). Parayko also scored his first of the year. His goal was unassisted. The story of the game was Blues goalie Ville Husso. The Finnish goaltender let in only one goal on the first shot of the game. After that goal, he went on to stop the rest of the Ducks shots. He made 25 saves and showed strength with pad saves. It's his first career NHL win, and one of hopefully many to come.

Husso makes a save

Finally, the Blues played significantly better as the game went on. Husso bailed them out a few times, but in the end, they got two points. The Blues are currently tied for first in their Division after Colorado's Overtime loss to Minnesota.

Next game: Feb. 2nd at 7:00 PM CST at home against Arizona.
